Well, all of a sudden it is only a few weeks until the 100 mile ride in Moab. I've been training hard. Last Saturday I rode 65 miles, beating my earlier longest distance by 15 miles! It felt like a great accomplishment, but I still have a lot of training to do before the event. I also have a lot of fundraising to do. So far, I've raised 25% of the $3,500 I pledged to raise. I sent out another email tonight and posted on facebook. So many of my friends have donated already, and it's really wonderful to see all the support. I trust that more of my friends and colleagues will be donating. Fundraising is tough for me because I hate asking for help. But the fact that the money is going towards fighting cancer makes it somewhat easier.

First ride since getting home
I got home Monday of last week, and frankly was a little lazy and didn't get out and ride at all. But tonight I went out and did a "short" 26 mile ride at Lake Draper. My definition of short is changing.

Saturday's ride, and out of town this week
Saturday, I finished a 50 mile ride, my longest yet. I was planning on going to Okarche, but the team coach decided it'd be better to go to Draper and get in some time on the hills east of the lake. I tell you, there is a hill just east of Hiwassee road on SE 104th that is a real son of a bitch. This time at least I made it up under my own power. Last time I tried it I had to walk my bike up from the halfway point. I can tell I'm making a little progress, so that's encouraging.
This week I'll be in Minneapolis for work. I won't be able to ride, but I'll be putting some time in on a stair-master; I hear it's helpful for getting in shape for hills.
